BrM Sync Overview

AssetWise Inspections integrates with BrM Sync. BrM Sync is a product used for bridge management. AssetWise Inspections can send last approved report values to BrM Sync but BrM Sync does not send data to AssetWise Inspections. A sync between the systems can occur on a scheduled basis or through manual pushes. User setup can be done by selecting the BrM option in the Administration module. Additional set up will need to be completed by Bentley in order for BrM Sync to be accessible and to begin using the integration features.

Administration Options Tab

  • Last BrM Sync - This displays the last date and time that a sync with BrM occurred.
  • Webservice Sync Settings - The Web Service URL, Webservice Username, Webservice User's Password, and Webservice User's GUID are all provided by the vendor or user for the BrM sync integration. The connection settings enable AssetWise Inspections to connect to BrM Sync. The Webservice Username will be displayed in BrM as the created by user when updates are made.
  • Database ID - This displays the unique ID of the specific database within BrM that the sync will point to.
  • SSL Certificate Path - If certificate based authentication is required, please contact Bentley for setup.
  • Sync Changes checkbox - When checked, users can select the interval time (minutes, hours, days or weeks) or select a specific time for the sync to automatically run daily.
  • Store Changes for Sync checkbox - When checked, data will be staged to a table until the sync occurs at the selected interval or time to run.
  • Sync Null Values checkbox - When checked, fields that have empty or null values will be included in the data to sync.
  • Time Zone - The dropdown field allows the user to select their local time zone to display the date and time on synced records in the audit log.
  • Default BrM Structure Unit Type - This field is configured with the default Structure Unit Type selected in BrM.
  • Default BrM Inspection Type - This field is configured with the default Inspection Type selected in BrM.
  • Link Assets Based on - This field denotes how assets in AssetWise Inspections are linked to the Br Key in BrM. Either Asset Code or NBI 8 can be selected.
  • Pad with leading spaces? Checkbox - The BRKEY in BrM is 15 characters. Checking this option will pad the Asset Code or NBI 8 with leading spaces to meet the format requirements to sync.
  • Under Records Data Type - This dropdown field lists all of the repeating field groups available in AssetWise Inspections. The selected group is used for mapping under record data to BrM.
  • Under Records Container Data Type - This dropdown field lists all of the repeating field groups available in AssetWise Inspections. The selected group is used for mapping under record data to BrM. It typically matched the Under Records Data Type field group selected.
  • On/Under Data Type Member Key - The field listed is how AssetWise Inspections matches values to BrM when under records are synced.

Assets Tab

The assets tab allows users to select which assets and their data are to be synced to BrM. By selecting the check box next each asset type, the asset tree will build under Mapped Assets. Each asset will automatically be checked to include in the sync. Users have the ability to check/uncheck specific assets.

Asset mapping can also be done when creating a new asset in Manage Inventory under the Administration module.

Select the checkbox next to Sync asset with BrM for the asset to sync with BrM.

Data Errors Tab

  • Data Errors Page Controls:
    • If the sync is processing reports, use the Refresh Page icon to refresh the grid to pull in new data errors that may have occurred since the page was last loaded.
    • To export the Data Errors grid to view in excel spreadsheet format, select the Export to Excel icon.
  • Error Date - The date listed is when the sync occurred and the error was found.
  • Asset - This displays the asset name for which the data error occurred for. The asset name is displayed as a hyperlink. When clicked, this will take you to the asset details page for the selected asset.
  • Report Date - This displays the date for which the report was created where the data error occurred. The report date is displayed as a hyperlink. When clicked, this will take you to the report for the selected asset.
  • BRKEY - This displays the mapped asset name from BrM.
  • INSPKEY - This displays the mapped report ID from BrM.
  • BrM Table - This displays the table where the data is stored once synced to BrM.
  • BrM Column - This displays the field name where the data is seen once synced to BrM.
  • Staged Value - This displays the value for the data that was sent to BrM.
  • Current Report Value - This displays the value of the current report that was sent to BrM.
  • On Under - This displays the instance of the on or under record for which the data is for.
  • Field name - This displays the field name in AssetWise Inspections.
  • Error - This displays errors associated with data validation. Data that does not meet the format of the field is an example of an error you would see in this grid.
  • Error Detail - This displays more technical information associated with data errors.
  • View Data Comparison - A hyperlink will take the user to a more detailed data comparison of all values to be synced to BrM for the specific asset.

System Errors Tab

The System Errors tab is similar to the Data Errors Tab but displays errors pertaining to connection, access, or network issues, rather than data validation.

  • System Errors Page Controls:
    • If the sync is processing reports, use the Refresh Page icon to refresh the grid to pull in new system errors that may have occurred since the page was last loaded.
    • To export the System Errors grid to view in excel spreadsheet format, select the Export to Excel icon .
